LEARNER RESPONSE

The use of editing in the opening scene helped create drama and tension.
One way that helped was the straight cut shots of the rope and the exterior parts of the boat as we are only given sounds to help us create an image of whats going on inside.
Another way tension was created was through snappy shots that linked together, for example  the line of fire and the gas dripping. This helped the audience put together what happened.  The snappy shots and quick editing created a montage. The editing mirrored the atmosphere towards the edit as there was a lot of suspense and tension. The editing used straight cuts to show us  parts of the boat until we see and watch the antagonist escape.
